chinese calligraphy

My grandma was the first person who taught me how to write Chinese characters - teaching me what she had to painstakingly learn herself under blankets with a flashlight and a dictionary.

When I was young, I would get so frustrated when she couldn’t exactly explain what the proper stroke order was or whether the character was simplified or traditional. How am I ever gonna learn Chinese properly? I thought.

I still can’t read a full Chinese menu, but man, can I fake it well like she did! To this day, I still lovingly blame her for my poor writing skills.

姥姥,你真是最厉害的!(via speech to text, ha!)
